Maralie Lily Charm - FLETCHER GETS BEATEN UP!

SET AFTER 'MAKING MUFFINS'.

Maralie walked over to the cell door, tilting her head slightly. Did she hear a whimper?

There it was again. A frightened noise, almost like a cry.

"Hello?" Maralie called. She looked at the cell door, then squeezed through the bars and skipped down to the source of the noise. Maralie was a slight girl, the smallest and most nimble she knew.

"Ember!" she exclaimed, looking at September Silver excitedly through the cell bars. Ember blinked at her, then sighed in relief.

Maralie's heart stopped as she saw the boy Ember was holding a knife up to.

Fletcher Renn.

"... Fletch?" she whispered, her eyes going wide.

Fletcher's eyes flickered to her and Ember stared at Maralie.

"You know Fletcher?"

Maralie's eyes filled with tears as her hands flew up to her mouth.

"Fletch," Maralie giggled, dangling her legs off the wall happily. "This is 1Derful!"

"You and that band," Fletcher rolled his eyes, but Maralie could see his grin.

"It's not me, it's not you," Maralie sang, "there's a reason, I'm just tryna read the signals I'm receivin', it's like a stone on fire, can you feel it? I don't know about you girl, but I'm believin'..."

Fletcher smiled at her. "You're a really good singer, Mara."

"Thanks Fletch!" Maralie laughed, hugging him close.

"You lied to me," Maralie muttered, tears dribbling down her cheeks. She slipped inside the cell and looked at him sadly.

"Mara-" Fletcher said quickly as Ember took away the knife, but Maralie interrupted him.

"You cheated on me!" Maralie cried, clenching her fists.

Fletcher grew pale. "I didn't-"

"I grew up wanting to be a teleporter like you," she whispered, pain laced in her voice. "You ran away when I needed you the most..."

"Mara, my dad, he-"

"STOP WITH THE LIES!" Maralie screamed at him. "You left because you were afraid of what I'd think!"

Fletcher was like a ghost at this time. "How did you...?"

"Molliana knew all about it," Maralie muttered, "she heard you talking to Ashton when you left about it."

"Mara, I'm sorry," Fletcher pleaded.

"You will be," Maralie mumbled, her voice not sounding human. She took a deep breath and began to sing.

"In my memory, all the small things, like daggers in my mind
In my memory, while my head bleeds, the words I'll never find, that I always meant to say to you I can't." Maralie sang softly, her jaw clenched as she took a step closer to Fletcher. Ember took a step back and the other girl who Maralie had hardly noticed did the same.

"Cause you turned your face, and now I can't feel you anymore,
Turn your face, so now I can't see you anymore,
Walk away until you're not standing at my door,
Turn your face, walk away and stay,
Turn your face, hmm oh,"

Suddenly, Maralie slapped Fletcher's chin and he stumbled backwards, staring at her in horror.

"In my memory, I was hurting, long before we met, oh,
In my memory, there's still burning, fingerprints you left,
And I'll always meant to say to you I can't,"

Maralie kneed Fletcher in the stomach and he cried out, falling to the floor in pain. Maralie didn't even look to see the terrified faces of Ember and the girl, Liberty Wit, Maralie thought to herself.

"So just turn your face, until I can't see you anymore,
Turn your face, until I can't see you anymore,
Walk away until you're not standing at my door,
Turn your face, walk away and stay,
Turn your face,"

Fletcher moaned as he lay on the ground, blood pumping from his nose. Maralie snapped her fingers and watched as a ball of light grew in her palm. She kneeled down and slowly placed her hand on Fletcher's back, hearing him scream in pain.

"Each time I take you back,
You bring one thousand cracks,
And I accept them, like a fool, oh,
So now what's your excuse,
What do we have to lose,
Since I'm already losing you,"

Maralie watched as Fletcher slowly grew limp, and wondered why he hadn't teleported yet. Perhaps he was in too much pain.

"So hard to face, that I can't feel you anymore,
Hard to face, that I can't see you anymore,
So walk away, until you're not standing at my door,
Turn your face, walk away, and stay,
Turn your face,
Turn your face, and stay,
Turn your face."

Maralie stopped singing and looked dully at Fletcher's body, which was lying unconscious on the floor.

"Am I a good singer now, Fletcher?" Maralie muttered, kicking his body slightly.

She looked up at the girls. "You can eat now."

And with that, she stalked out of the cell, kicking it open with anger.

Um, wow. Like, that was the first piece of scary stuff Maralie ever did... I'm not used to writing like this! O.o
Thanks for reeeeading! x

    2. I think it was because she hated Fletcher with a passion. If you made her angry and were her friend, she'd just laugh :P

  3. Well I must say I'm rather shocked. I didn't know you had this in you, Mara. I would say I'm impressed, only I don't believe in revenge so... Anyway, great chapter! I love that we got to see this darker side of funny, sweet Mara. Very well written- keep it up!
