Fabi: Song for the Dead

Fabi had seen him, the figure behind Raeza Blayd, and she'd done nothing. Another death would fall on her shoulders, another horrible mistake, something else she could blame on herself.
The figment of her imagination shook its head 'I find your lack of faith disturbing, Fabigail. Think of it this way, you've influenced history, you're important. And seriously, I killed myself. Luke, I am your father.'
Another voice in her head patted her on the back. 'It's not your fault, Fabulous, it's mine. I could have been shopping when I got shot! I could have been wakeboarding when I got shot...easy as metaphorical pie!'
A third hallucination piped up, 'Think of it like sacrificing a few pieces in a chess game to make a surprise checkmate at the end.'
'Fabzil-Fabi, nothing is your fault. You shouldn't blame yourself so much. That actually is your fault. Blaming yourself, I mean. The rest really isn't.'
'Fabi, it's not your fault! *hugs* You're a 1Deful person! Mevolent is bad bad bad! No messing with Mara's friends, baddie!' Being hugged by a voice in her head was an...interesting experience.
Fabi started to sing, to block out the voices. She wasn't in any shape to believe a word any of them said.
    "The stars, the moon,
They all have been blown out.
You left me in the dark.
     No dawn, no day,
     I'm always in this twilight.
In the shadow of my heart."
She'd done a combination to that song in Lyrical-Contemporary, back before she'd stepped too deep into the magical world. It was the year when she'd still looked old enough to claim to be her actual age. Her teacher had been going through a Florence + the Machine phase...
"Here I am, a rabbit-hearted girl, frozen in the headlights. It seems I've made the final sacrifice."
She didn't know how long it was before she'd sung herself to sleep, but eventually the dreams came, vivid as ever. (See the video)

This chapter turned out...odd. [Posts and flees]

    1. Thanks... I was going to do the whole song-medley, but that was impossible under the circumstances.

Hope you don't mind that I quoted you in the shopping/wakeboarding bit!
