Aretha Tesla: A Few Rules and Requests

First, I want to note that this whole thing started because of a dream Maralie shared with her fellow minions in Blogland where we were all running away from Mevolent. She then wrote about it in class. I came up with the idea to collaborate on a story where we all fight (either with or against) Mevolent, and many of you lovely minions seemed to like it, so here it is: our very own blogger account, so we can all write posts from our own point of view.

I'm not going to act as any kind of moderator or set down strict rules or anything like that, but just to keep it respectful, I'm setting down a few guidelines...
1. Unless you have their permission, DO NOT EDIT SOMEONE ELSE'S POST. Even if they've made spelling or grammar mistakes- just tell them to fix it, or ask if you can. Just don't go randomly changing other peoples' stories.
2. YOU ARE IN CHARGE OF YOUR MUSE. Well, ok, I know none of us are really in control of our muses at all, but my point is, if someone else is fighting your muse, make sure you guys communicate. You do not have the right to kill another person's character unless they say you can. And if you put someone else's character in your post, and they want to correct it, they still have to talk to you first, but they have a right to that.
4. PUT YOUR NAME IN THE TITLE OF YOUR POST. This is just something I hope will avoid confusion, because if everyone starts writing and no one knows who wrote what, this could get really chaotic really fast. Do what I did at the top of this post- My Name: The Post Title.
3. BE NICE TO EACH OTHER. This really goes without saying, and all of you guys are such great people and so supportive of each other, I don't even know why I bother posting this, but still. No one is going to kick you off the blog, no matter what you do- the whole point of this is that everyone has equal power- but keep that in mind and use it responsibly, please. :)

Things we need:
1. A headcannon for the setting. Something we can all agree upon- what's the backstory? How did we start fighting? Circumstance, location, time period... etc. Feel free to discuss this in the comments below.
2. Know your character, know your abilities, and pick a side. You don't have to tell anyone else- you could be a double agent if you want, or your character could drift in between sides- I'm not putting any limitations here, just make sure you have a strong base, because with everyone working at once it'll be really easy to get swept away.

If anyone wants to write for Mevolent, that would be awesome- but it isn't necessary (we could always just each write pieces of Mevolent as needed in our scenes) so don't feel compelled to do it unless you really want to.

Let the games begin! (seriously, though, this whole thing is going to look really pathetic if nobody writes anything, so have at it!)

  1. Great idea Aretha!

Is this back in Dead Men time?

  2. Thanks! And it could be. I don't know. It would make sense if it were in Dead Men time, however that fit the backstory of some peoples' muses... But we can't have every detail perfectly correct on here- in fact, it'll probably be a huge jumble of different stories and versions of truth, but that'll make it interesting and give it layers. It'll probably end up either being Dead Men time, (don't read this if you haven't read KoTW) that alternate universe, or (ok you can read again) we'll come up with something completely new, like Mevolent comes back from the dead and raises an army again, or something like that. What do you people think?

  3. Dead Men time would be better, so KOTW isn't a requirement. This looks cool! I am too busy just now, but my character will join soon.

  4. Ok, actually, I just realized if I leave this too open no one will know where to start, and this whole idea will die. So here's my idea: It's set in mondern day. Beginning of 2013. Mevolent has somehow risen from the dead (no one knows how) and he's been living under the radar building amassing an army for some time now. He's finally recruited a large enough force to come out of hiding, and immidiately he declares war on the world and sets off to try and summon the faceless ones. Tell me if you guys like it, and if you do, we'll use it. If not, publish your own. Just thought I'd get the ball rolling.

  5. But would putting it in modern day conflict with the SP books that are happening right now? I don't know, I'm just thinking aloud.

  6. This sounds cool. I may consider it if I can write anything decent and long enough.

  7. How do we write something on here?

    ReplyDelete
  8. That sounds like a great idea!

If nobody else wants to, I'll write for Melevolent! After all... I did help him in the war...

  9. You can write something on here by logging in and posting. I put the username and password under the last page of the comments section for Derek Landy's "A New Post", and I'll put them here so they're more easily acessable.

That's a good point about the future books... We could put all of this in an alternate universe if we wanted, instead- I dunno. You guys have any ideas? I'm really glad so many of you have already taken the time to check this out and comment! Thanks!!

Death Rose, it would be awesome if you wrote for Mevolent (no offense to anyone else, but it seems like you'd be best suited to it anyway, from your history and all that...) but only do it if you want to. If you wanted to write for both yoursef and Mevolent, that would be fine too- do what you want, I guess. But yeah, that would be awesome.

  10. If no one else wants to, I can start, in about 2.5 hours. If someone else wants to start by then, great!

  11. Would I still be able to be on Melevolent's side?

  12. I say we use our present-day 2013, but avoid Skul and Val. That is my vote, you can outvote me.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I vote with Fabi!

But can I write something set in the past if I think it works with the plot?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yep- I'm with you, Fabi! And Death- of course you can be on Mevolent's side!

    ReplyDelete
  15. sure, you can write something set in the past! Take creative liscence! Do what you want! This could get really interesting.

  16. Yay!!!!!
    *Grins*
Now we need a follow button...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Okay, now we have a follow thing! And I am not the terminator!!!

  18. Yeah, I know it's late, but I agree with Fabi as well.

Present day, minus Skul and Val. Maybe(other than Mevolent of course) it could just be us Bloglandians as the characters. Taking out most of the characters from the books.

We can have our own Grand Mages for different Sanctuaries. Except for the countries that don't have Bloglandians, we could either make it up, or not use those countries or use the characters from the book then. I know it might be hard, figuring out who should be Grand Mage of what, but sound good? It's okay if you don't like the idea though. Feel free to voice your opinions!

Pst, if Zaf wants to join, she might want to be Grand Mage of America. Is that okay?(Or because America's so big, we could have more than one sanctuary-despite what Derek said.)(Yeah, Zaf asked before and got the answer that America only has one Sanctuary, despite it's size. But Derek said a lot of people have to work there because of it. My character's mom included.) OR we can remember that there are still two other places for the rest of the council to fill in.

Sorry, this is pretty long, huh?

    1. I was getting sick of it. I could barely read the numbers necessary

  20. Is Zaf Grand Mage of South/North America or just the USA?

    ReplyDelete

    1. The USA.

I think Derek meant that too. I think there are Sanctuaries in every country. Not continent. So there could be a Canadian and a Mexican Sanctuary too, for example.

  21. Hehe. I can't believe my dream turned into a whole story :P It sounds awesome!! :D

  22. Ookay! This is such a cool project! How do I start writing?

  23. Log in. Aretha wrote the password and username near the top of the comments

  24. People- it has been called to my attention that by leaving the password in the comments section, I am practically inviting any person with evil intentions to go on and start messing stuff up. SO I have changed the password. THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU CANNOT POST. Anyone can still post anything- but just to be sure some random person doesn't see it and hack it, send an email. You can email me at PWachie@gmail.com, and I will send you the password as soon as I physically can. Or, if you know someboedy else's email and they know it (Lavender Hope knows it already) you could email them too. I'm glad you guys are so into this! Also- I thought I should mention this- feel free to invent and write for more than one character. For example, if your main oc has an evil twin or a mentor/apprentice that is also oc, you can write them into the story also. I just wanted to make that clear. Ok- I'm going to shut up now. Enjoy!

  25. Or, if you want to use your own account to post, email me with the email you use to sign in to blogger and I'll add it as an author. I know how to do that.

    My email is lavhope@gmail.com.

  26. Yay! I wrote a chapter but I don't think it's very good :( I'll just email for the password..

  29. Despite what I may have said previously, I'm eating my words again.

This does sound and look like fun, and everyone seems to be posting at a crazy rate, so why not. I'd like to join, if that's okay with everyone...

    I'll email Lav.
